Our Guide to Girls’ Football

The FA have said it’s officially girls’ football week this week, running from the 5th to the 11th of October, and so we thought it was only right to celebrate some of the great girls’ football we see every year here at ESF.

In our guide to girls’ football, we want to try and inspire more young ladies to get involved by showing off some of the great opportunities we have for what is now the biggest female team sport in the UK.

Lionesses love ESF girls’ football.

At every ESF UK festival for girls, we bring down some of the leading lights of the ladies’ game to our end of tournament presentations. In the past, we’ve been joined by Sue Smith, Casey Stoney, Martha Harris, Jordan Nobbs and Faye White as we are committed to making sure every girl receives the chance to be inspired by role models of the game, and get a better understanding of what it takes to make it in such a highly competitive environment.

That’s why we were delighted to recruit Casey Stoney (Arsenal & England) and Sue Smith (Doncaster & England) as ESF ambassadors. They’ve highlighted why they love ESF, as they feel it’s vitally important for every young woman in their development to go on tour to such a competitive, prestigious football festival such as ours.
Here’s what they had to say

“Going on tour can be a great experience for the girls and one they’ll look back on with fond memories with their friends in later years. I hope to see you at ESF 2016!”
CASEY STONEY – ARSENAL & ENGLAND LADIES
“ESF really is a fantastic experience for all the girls involved and I’m delighted to be an ESF Ambassador for girls’ football. It’s clear to see how much the girls benefit from taking part.”
SUE SMITH – DONCASTER BELLES & ENGLAND LADIES

Our Girls’ Football Tournaments

All under 10 and under 16 girls’ teams are eligible for our Girls’ football tournaments. They’re held at three of our sell out UK festivals at Butlins Bognor Regis, Minehead, and Skegness. All these resorts have loads to offer for the whole family and our football festivals are the icing on the cake to what always is a fun filled weekend.

So, if you want to find out more about any of our girls’ football competitions taking place in 2016, have a read below or go to our new, dedicated girls’ football page.

For now, have a look at the details of our three ESF Butlins festivals. They’re not only the most popular events we put on, selling out annually, they’re the largest tournaments of their kind in the UK. 150 girls teams participate our ESF girls football tournaments every year, something we’re enormously proud of. If you’re part of a girls’ football team you will definitely want to put your skills to the test at one of these.

Butlins Skegness is a particular favourite of ours. The competition is always fierce, and it’s held at undoubtedly one of the best holiday resorts in the UK. There’s tonnes of great stuff to do all weekend!
